More than 40 policemen, who were duty near the Kedarnath shrine, are missing as incessant rains continued to batter Uttarakhand. Only five of the 50 missing policemen have been traced so far.

10 choppers have been deployed by the Indian Air Force in Uttarakhand where around 73,000 people including thousands of pilgrims are stranded. Two choppers ferried about 200 stranded pilgrims from the high altitude Kedarnath shrine to Fata helipad in Rudraprayag district today. (See pics)

Chopper services were launched on a war footing with no fresh spell of rain in the morning at most places in the Uttarakhand, an official said.

Bodies of three ITBP jawans and two police constables were also recovered from the debris at Kedarnath, official sources said, adding these casualties occurred yesterday.

Two IAF helicopters and two private helicopters have been sent into the Chamoli district where a huge number of pilgrims are still stranded.

The private choppers have been hired to distribute food and other essential commodities to people stranded in Pulna and Bundar villages en route to Hemkund Sahib.

State Health Minister Yashpal Arya visited the affected areas in Uttarkashi and assured people that more choppers were being asked for from the State Tourism Minister Amrita Rawat for relief and rescue operations in the district which is one of the worst hit.

Apart from choppers, JCB dozers may also be utilised to shift stranded pilgrims to safe places, he said.

प्रकृति ... जिसे वेदोँ ने 'माँ' कह कर संबोधित किया है । आज अपने ही बच्चोँ पर कोपदृष्टि की ऐसी वृष्टि क्योँ कर रही है ? बार बार इस धरती को सुनामी , भूकंप, बाढ़ ,सुखाड़ आदि का सामना करना पड़ता है। Global warming, ozone layer depletion इस सब का कारण क्या है ??
जैसा कि सबको पता है, कि इसका कारण कोई और नहीँ बल्कि स्वयं मानव है । आज मनुष्य अपनी ही 'प्रकृति माँ' को प्रताड़ित करने मेँ बर्बरता की सारी हदेँ पार कर गया है । Industrialisation, De-forestation, Intensive Agriculture, Excessive burning of Fossil fuels ,Urbanisation, Waste Material discharge etc इन सबके द्वारा वह तरह-तरह के pollutions फैलाकर प्रकृति का दम घोँट रहा है। इसमेँ एकतरह से Newton's IIIrd law of motion लागू होता है ,जिसके अनुसार
" To every action, there is an equal & opposite reaction. " इसलिए प्रकृति भी रौद्ररुपा चंडिका बनने को विवश है ।

ऐसा नहीँ है कि इसकी रोकथाम के लिए कोई उपाय नहीँ किए जा रहे हैँ ।उपाय किये जा रहे हैँ, लेकिन वे उपाय उतने प्रभावी नहीँ हो रहे हैँ। इसके लिए बड़े-बड़े विश्व- सम्मेलन होते हैँ। जिसमेँ बड़ी-बड़ी योजनाएँ बनाई जाती हैँ। लेकिन परिणाम ...परिणाम सभी को मालूम है। ये सारी योजनाएँ फाइलोँ मेँ बंद पड़ी रहती हैँ, और समस्याएँ ज्योँ-की-त्योँ रहती है।
फिर इसके समाधान के लिए क्या किया जाय ??
इसके समाधान स्वरुप हमारे परम पूजनीय गुरुदेव बताते हैँ -
"हमारे सारे प्रयास तभी सफल हो सकते हैँ, जब हम आंतरिक या सूक्ष्म स्तर पर भी प्रयास करेँगे। आंतरिक स्तर अर्थात आत्मा का स्तर ! जबतक हमारी भीतरी चेतना का जागरण नहीँ होगा, तबतक हमारे विचार और आचार मेँ स्थायी परिवर्तन नहीँ आ सकता । इसलिए पर्यावरण-संरक्षण का अमोघ सूत्र है- आत्मिक जागृति ! जो केवल 'ब्रह्मज्ञान' द्वारा ही संभव है।ब्रह्मज्ञान द्वारा हमारा 'तृतीय नेत्र' खुलता है और हम आत्मा का साक्षात्कार कर पाते हैँ। अपनी आंतरिक चेतना को पूर्ण जागृत अनुभव करते हैँ। ऐसा जागृत मनुष्य ही प्रकृति के प्रति हितकारी सिद्ध होता है।अपने हर कर्म से, हर आचरण से यहाँतक कि अपनी सूक्ष्म संस्कारित विचार-तरंगोँ तक से कण-कण का कल्याण करता है। इन तरंगोँ से वह संपूर्ण वायुमंडल मेँ पूर्ण ,अपूर्व क्रांति ला सकता है।
क्योँकि Einstein के E = mc^2 सिद्धांत से यह साबित हो चुका है कि ये पूरी प्रकृति तरंग रुप है। और जब पूरी सृष्टि तरंग रुप है तो प्रकृति की विकृत और नकारात्मक बन चुकी तरंगोँ को चैतन्य और सकारात्मक तरंगो से उपचार किया जा सकता है। अंततः ये कहा जा सकता है कि अगर हम प्राकृतिक पर्यावरण सुधारना चाहते हैँ , तो 'मानसिक पर्यावरण ' के सुधार पर भी कार्य करना होगा। चेतना की जागृति के लिए भी प्रयास करने पड़ेँगे। जो केवल 'ब्रह्मज्ञान' से ही संभव है ।"
और ये ज्ञान केवल एक "पूर्ण सद्‌गुरु" ही दे सकते हैँ।
